Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 25, 2026

This policy explains how Sidekick Log uses local browser storage and first-party website data.

Chrome extension storage

The extension primarily uses Chrome's chrome.storage.local API rather than browser cookies. It stores local product state such as:

  • Authentication and subscription status
  • Signal classifications and lightweight conversation-state records
  • Settings, filters, and preferences
  • Local caches needed for change detection and recovery
  • Anonymous analytics identifiers and, when analytics consent is granted, a hashed Gmail identity

The extension does not require you to provide your own Anthropic, Groq, OpenRouter, or other AI API key.

First-party attribution cookie

The extension has permission to read cookies on sidekicklog.com. If a first-party sidekicklog.com attribution cookie is present, the extension may read it to connect a website visit or install source with extension analytics. It does not read Gmail cookies.

Website cookies

sidekicklog.com does not use advertising or remarketing cookies. Hosting infrastructure may use operational cookies or request metadata needed to deliver and secure the site.

Website analytics

The website uses PostHog (EU) to understand how it is used: pages viewed, buttons clicked, and the campaign that brought you (UTM parameters). By default this runs without analytics cookies. If you choose “Accept all” in the privacy banner, PostHog keeps an identifier in a cookie and local storage so your visits can be connected. “No, thanks” keeps the cookie-free mode. Your choice is saved in local storage (sidekick_cookie_consent).

Local storage also keeps a short list of the pages you visited (skl_journey) until you click Install. When you click Install, the site sets a first-party cookie, skl_ph_id, for 7 days. It holds an anonymous visit ID, the button you clicked and the campaign that brought you, so the extension can connect your install to that visit (see “First-party attribution cookie” above).

If you continue to Polar for checkout, Polar may use its own cookies and similar technologies on its domains under its own privacy policy.

Managing local data

You can clear extension data from Sidekick Log settings, revoke Gmail access from your Google Account, remove website cookies through your browser settings, or uninstall the extension.
